Heritage Management Programme Year 4

Year 4 students from Macao Institute for Tourism Studies’ BSc in Heritage Management Programme held a public event titled “Macao Heritage: The Rhythm of Gaming” on 7 May 2021. It presented Macao’s local cultural heritage and history, focusing on the relationship between gaming and city development. The event aimed to find out the hidden cultural resources and game heritage in Macao and how gaming culture influences Macao’s development and identity to raise the attention of Macao residents to their local culture and heritage.
Macao is a city that moves with the rhythm of gaming, both of each are closely related. With the rapid development of Macao, a number of games from the old era were gradually forgotten by people, leaving only subtle memories. This event described the heritage of gaming culture related to Macao in the form of cultural mapping. Students studied 18 different game-related sites or architectures in Macao and presented the stories of those sites by virtual tours. This event also attracted guests from different fields in Macao who discussed their knowledge and experience on game heritage. The event, which was live-streamed to the public online, attracted a large audience from greater China and beyond.
